Ismail described hearing two explosive sounds, which he likened to bomb blasts, followed by smoke rising south of the airport. The FAA confirmed that a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet, operating as American Airlines Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas, collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter.
