At least 174 people die in Indonesia after football match!
At least 174 people have died in a riot at a stadium in Indonesia after a football match. The incident took place overnight in East Java province. According to the chief inspector of the local police, Niko Afinta, the fans of the losing team took to the field after the end of the match. In order to deter law enforcement officers used tear gas, but this only aggravated the situation. A stampede began at the stadium, as a result, about 180 people were injured, and more than 120 received injuries incompatible with life. Later, the head of one of the hospitals where the wounded were treated said that a five-year-old child was among the dead. After the incident, the Indonesian Human Rights Commission called for checking the work of the security services on the ground. Thus, it became known that the stadium, which can accommodate no more than 38 thousand people, was attended by about 42 thousand visitors on Saturday. Indonesian Sports Minister Zainudin Amalie said the agency will review the requirements for organizing football matches. In addition, the games of the Indonesian top league BRI Liga 1 will be suspended while the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
