Terrified tourists fled as a fire ripped through their bus on a highway in Thailand.

The 11 European passengers were travelling to a sea turtle conservation facility when their vehicle caught fire along Motorway 7 near Pattaya City, on February 9.

Dashcam footage shows the fire engulfing the rear of the Hino bus that was stopped on the roadside.

Police and firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving a report at 10:06 am. The road was partially blocked as officers extinguished the blaze. The operation took 30 minutes to complete.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Rattapol Wanna of the Highway Police said: 'The 11 tourists of different nationalities arrived on a Regent Seven Seas Cruises luxury cruise ship at the Laem Chabang Port. They were being taken to their destination in Sattahip province when the fire occurred.'

He added there were no injuries among the 11 passengers, one Thai tour guide, and the Thai driver named Mew onboard.

Maew said: 'I think the cause of the fire was an oil leak that ignited the engine compartment. I saw there was a trail of oil behind us on the road. When the bus burst into flames, I immediately stopped and ordered the tourists to escape.'

In October 2024, a tragic bus fire in Pathum Thani, Thailand, claimed the lives of 20 students and three teachers during a school field trip. Investigations revealed that a gas leak at the front of the bus was the cause of the fire.

Following the horror inferno, the Ministry of Transport ordered safety inspections for some 13,000 natural gas-powered buses in the country.
