This is the moment a fan exploded and the whirling blade hit a father in the face.

Sob Suphanong, 57, was asked to check the desk fan that trembled uncontrollably before the parts flew towards him like missiles at the shop in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 8.

CCTV footage shows the elderly resident looking at the electrical device when its cover snapped open from the hurtling blades.

The sharp debris hit him in the eyebrows and nose, missing his eyes by only an inch.

His wife and children quickly checked on him as he covered his bleeding face with his hands.

Sob's son Kraiphop said: 'Mum turned it on and asked my father to check on it. He was watching it move when it suddenly exploded.'

The father was taken to a clinic and had 13 stitches on his face to close his wounds.
