Shocking footage has emerged from China of a car suddenly speeding up and crashing into a restaurant after the driver pressed the accelerator by mistake.

The CCTV video, captured in Shanghai last Sunday, shows a car suddenly speeding up, knocking over an electric bike and driving into the restaurant.

Four customers sitting near the window were hit by the vehicle, and woman can be seen in the video with facial injuries.

According to local reports, the the driver of the car only got her license six months ago, and was trying to park when she accidentally mistook the brake for the accelerator.

Several people were injured, including one seriously.

All injured had treatment, one woman had serious injury was sutured 18 needles on her wound.
