Cooperation with China has contributed to the development and common prosperity of Caribbean countries, officials said on the sidelines of the 48th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

"I think the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in particular, for the region, has been an instrument in the economic development of these countries, those who are participating in it, and who are project-aligned with it. I think a majority of the Caribbean countries acknowledge and support the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and in many ways have benefited from it."

Grenada's Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell recently paid an official visit to China to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and he considered it a fruitful and pleasant tour, said the island's Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Andall.

"China has been a very good and reliable partner to countries of the Global South, including Grenada and others in the Caribbean. We value our relationship with China because it is based on mutual respect. And I think that it is something that we all need to continue and to deepen."
