An American submarine arrived in Australia for a routine port visit.

The Virginia-class fast-attack submarine USS Minnesota (SSN 783) docked at HMAS Stirling on February 25 as part of the first of two planned U.S. fast-attack submarine visits to the base this year.

The arrival is part of the Australia, United Kingdom, and United States trilateral security agreement, known as AUKUS.

These port visits support AUKUS's goal of developing Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered attack submarine capability.

The USS Minnesota's presence in Western Australia reflects ongoing defense cooperation between the allied nations.
