This is the heroic moment New York police officers save a walker from a frozen lake in Brooklyn.

Intense footage shows emergency responders rushing to the scene and deploying a ladder into Prospect Park Lake to rescue the distressed individual on Sunday, February 23.

The man could be heard screaming and pleading for help as authorities arrived.

Officers Christian Ferrante and Luilly Baez, partners for just a few months in the 78th Precinct, responded to the rescue after receiving a 911 call.

Ferrante said they called over the radio, reporting that the man had fallen in, and requested all available units.

He added: 'As soon as we got out of the car, that was when the ice cracked beneath him, and he fell in.

'Got out on my stomach, extended the ladder to him, my partner had my leg, and we were able to get him off the ice and into the ambulance.'

The man was pulled to safety and taken to NYC Health+Hospitals/Kings County in stable condition.
