Police officers and local residents saved nine stranded yaks from a frozen lake in western China

The video was filmed in Madoi County in Qinghai Province on November 25.

Responding swiftly to the emergency call from a local herder, officers from the Wild Buffalo Gully Police Station grabbed their ropes and essential rescue equipment. Braving the bone-chilling temperatures that plummeted to a freezing -20°C, these brave officers raced to rescue the trapped yaks.

Upon arrival at the frozen lake, the officers were met with a heart-wrenching sight. Several yaks were struggling desperately in the icy water, and the herder, their owner, wore an anxious expression. With empathy in their voices, the officers reassured him, saying, "Saving the yaks comes first; don't worry about anything else for now."

With no regard for their own safety, the rescue officers plunged into the frigid water. They worked tirelessly to secure ropes around the distressed yaks. With the coordinated efforts of the entire team, they pulled and tugged with all their might, inching the yaks closer to safety.

Over the course of a gruelling 4.5 hours, the officers successfully rescued all nine yaks from the icy waters.
