Residents rescue mother and daughter being attacked by wild boar
Residents rescued a mother and daughter from a wild boar attack in Indonesia.
The animal wandered into a residential area in Ternate City, North Maluku province, on Wednesday, February 26, at around 7:30 am.
Adjunct Police Commissioner Umar Kombong of the Ternate Resort Police said a witness saw the swine crossing a main road before it entered the village.
Moments later, it went on a rampage, charging at a mum, 41, and her child, 4.
The wild pig went on a violent rampage, shredding the victims' clothes and leaving them covered in blood.
Footage shows the animal thrashing the child on the ground as panicked onlookers scream for help.
Umar said: 'Residents who saw the incident immediately reacted by using whatever tools they could, such as wood and stones, to fight the wild boar.'
The hog was eventually subdued and killed by locals several minutes after the attack.
Authorities reported that the victims survived but sustained serious injuries and were taken to Chasan Boesiri Regional Hospital for treatment.
Wild boars, known for their aggressive behaviour, have been reported to destroy crops and pose a threat to people during encounters.
