Dashcam footage shows a dazed driver staggering away after a taxi explosion in China.

The explosion occurred while the vehicle was stationary at an intersection, sending debris flying in all directions in Qingdao, Shandong Province, on February 24.

The blast was so powerful that it blew off the vehicle's doors and opened the boot.

Footage reveals a man, appearing singed, emerging from the taxi and stumbling towards the rear of the vehicle moments after the explosion.

The clip then captures the taxi completely engulfed in flames, raising concerns about vehicle safety and maintenance.

The driver said: 'At first, I felt the smell of something burning, but I didn't pay much attention to it.

'Then I heard some crackling noises. The passengers asked what the noise was. I said it might be a cannon going off somewhere.

'Then I saw smoke coming out of the front cabin and quickly reminded the passengers to get off the car.

'If they were two minutes late, the door would probably not be able to be opened.'

It remains unclear what caused the incident.
