Flash floods surged through a farm in Queensland, Australia.

Severe flooding has struck the area around 16 kilometres west of Brisbane following hours of relentless rainfall.

Footage captured by Lisa Coffey shows the extent of the floodwaters on March 9.

The deluge has raised concerns for Racing Hearts, an organisation dedicated to retraining retired racehorses for therapy and community roles, which may be affected by the flooding.

Brisbane City Council's Flood Awareness Map notes that Pinjarra Hills faces a one in 20 to one in 100 chance of flooding annually.

Cyclone Alfred was downgraded to a tropical low on Saturday, sparing the region from the worst of its possible impact that evening.

More than 330,000 homes and businesses lost power, with electricity lines, houses, and cars damaged by the storm.

One individual was confirmed dead, and several others were injured.

Authorities said that cyclones are common in Queensland's tropical north but are very rare in the region's temperate southeast corner, which borders New South Wales.

Alfred was the most southerly cyclone to threaten the region since Tropical Cyclone Zoe in 1974.
