Severe storms and tornadoes swept through Missouri on Friday night, March 14, causing widespread destruction and claiming at least 11 lives.

Footage captured at St. Louis Lambert International Airport shows a passenger plane taking off as lightning illuminates the sky. The filmer believed a tornado was visible behind the aircraft, though Storyful could not independently confirm this.

Local media reported that at least six tornadoes may have touched down across the St. Louis region. The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed 11 fatalities, with six deaths in Wayne County, three in Ozark County, one in Butler County, and one in Jefferson County.

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe described the situation as devastating, with homes destroyed and lives lost.
