Furious mum flips off school board over Bluebonnet bible curriculum in Texas schools
This is the shocking moment a furious mother flipped off a school board over a proposed initiative to include bible-based lessons in the elementary school curriculum in Texas.
Footage shows the outraged parent calling a Fort Bend independent school district trustee a 'fascist little b***h' while raising her middle finger during a board meeting in the deeply Republican state on March 17.
The woman cited the First Amendment but was kicked out of the room and a 10-minute recess was declared to ease tensions.
The controversial Bluebonnet Learning curriculum, which incorporates bible references into reading classes, has sparked significant resistance from all nine parents who spoke at the meeting to oppose its religious elements.
One parent said: 'We are living in a time when vouchers are presented as a parent's right to choose, but parents' rights to decide what religion their children are exposed to is being stripped away.'
Another called Bluebonnet 'a blatant intrusion of religious dogma where it does not belong.'
While a third said: 'Only parents should have the right to teach their children about religion, especially if their children are in public school.'
Districts adopting Bluebonnet would receive 60 USD per student, though the curriculum is not mandatory.
The Texas State Board of Education approved Bluebonnet in November, offering it to districts statewide. It includes lessons like the 'Golden Rule' and other teachings from the bible, reflecting a push in Republican-led states for more religious content in public schools.
