A family hid under the table and held onto their chairs as a violent storm ripped through their holiday dinner.

Footage shows the residents being disrupted by strong gusts that blew through the window in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand.

Some of them immediately hid under furniture while the others tried to save the food from being thrown off.

One of the residents, Frank, said: ‘Everything happened so fast we didn't have time to move.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
