A Dutch tourist finished his meal unfazed by a windstorm battering the cliffside restaurant.

Footage shows the hardy old man eating spoonfuls of rice and soup as the gusts whipped around his table overlooking the sea in Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand, on May 11.

While the other customers had abandoned the area to flee inside, Wijnand, 80, was unperturbed by the bad weather and chose to enjoy the local seafood dishes he ordered.

He scooped up his food and picked up the glass of water to drink as the server rushed to clean up before the heavy monsoon season downpour arrived.

Wijnand's friend Wariya Thongkrachang said: ‘He waited all day to eat his dinner with the scenic views of the ocean. He loves Thai dishes so much. Not even strong winds could stop him from enjoying the food.'

Thailand has entered its annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
