United States - March 20, 2025 Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii - A stunning timelapse video reveals the complete sequence of Kīlauea’s ongoing summit eruption on March 20, 2025. The footage highlights the volcano’s dynamic activity. The video begins with hours of filling-draining cycles at both the north and south vents. These cycles show the lava column rising and falling, paired with low-level spattering and small overflows. In the early morning of March 20, full fountaining took over. Lava shot high above the crater rim, reaching heights of about 200 meters (650 feet), creating a dramatic display. By early afternoon, the fountaining stopped suddenly. This marked the end of the eruption event, leaving the summit quiet once more.
