China: Chinese fertilizer producers boost output to fulfill spring farming demand
Chinese fertilizer producers boost output to fulfill spring farming demand (Voice_over) Chinese fertilizer manufacturers are ramping up production as springtime farming gets underway across the country. One fertilizer producer in east China's Anhui Province said their factory is running at full capacity to keep up with market demand. (Sound_bite) Wu Anchang, General manager, Fertilizer factory: "Two of our production lines ensure supplies to northeast China, and another production line serves the needs in Anhui Province and its surrounding areas. Our daily output has reached about 2,800 tons, which can be sold out on the day when they were produced." (Voice_over) Those in the industry say demand for slow-release and water-soluble fertilizers has been picking up this year, as well as for fertilizer products that can be distributed by drone. Analysts say for this planting season, the market supply of fertilizers has remained stable. (Sound_bite) Wang Xiaoxue, Market analyst, China Agricultural Means of Production Association: "In the first two months of this year, the total output of major fertilizer products in the country increased by 2.84 percent year on year. Taking into consideration factors like the total output, import and export volume, inventory and industrial and agricultural demand, the fertilizer supply for this spring plowing season is sufficient." (Voice_over) Spring farming is key to ensuring the China's food security, prompting officials at all levels of the Chinese governments to closely monitor fertilizer prices and supplies. According to the annual government work report, China has raised its grain output target for 2025 to an all-time high of about 700 million metric tons. [Restriction: No access Chinese mainland]
