A thug was jailed for a 100 mph car chase through Manchester.

Jayden O'Donnell, 23, previously pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possessing a bladed article, disqualified driving, and having no insurance.

Last year, officers spotted Jayden in a grey Mazda on Moston Lane after he left a nearby pub on October 26, around 10:50 pm.

When he noticed the officers, Jayden sped off down Moston Lane at over 60 mph, initiating a chase. He drove the wrong way around a roundabout and hit speeds above 80 mph, briefly evading police.

Another patrol saw him run red lights on Rochdale Road and joined the pursuit. Jayden reportedly reached 100 mph in a 30 mph zone, overtaking cars on the wrong side of the road.

During the chase, he reverse-rammed the officers' vehicle twice. No officers were hurt.

He eventually abandoned his car and fled up an alleyway. Police followed him to a house on Styhead Drive, where they found him hiding under a bed.

He later admitted to his offences.

Inspector Dan Pickavance, from Greater Manchester Police's City of Manchester district, said: 'Our officers are regularly out on patrol in the north Manchester area, and where they see suspicious activity, you can be sure they will investigate it.

'O'Donnell put road users' lives at risk with his reckless driving and things could have been much worse – I am also glad that our officers weren't injured as a result of his disgusting ram attack.

'All those involved, from the pursuit, to those who arrested him at taser-point in an address, behaved professionally and brilliantly, and I am glad their work has got O'Donnell off the streets.'

Jayden was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Manchester Crown Court.
