A gas pipeline fire erupted, causing a massive blaze in Malaysia.

Petronas, the national oil company, confirmed the inferno began at one of its pipelines outside Kuala Lumpur, near a gas station in Putra Heights, on Tuesday, April 1, at 8:10 am.

Footage shows towering orange flames and thick smoke billowing across the area.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud blast, followed by a powerful shockwave, before witnessing the large fire rapidly spreading across the vicinity.

Police said more than 100 people were hospitalised, with at least 13 in critical condition, treated for burns, injuries, and respiratory issues.

More than 300 people were affected, including those left homeless by the destruction of approximately 190 residences.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that repairs could take over a year, adding that authorities are working closely with Petronas to find a reasonable solution for the victims.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
