Los Angeles, United States - April 10, 2025 04/10/2025 12:01 am (GMT-0700) EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A Sig Alert was issued early Wednesday following a fiery crash that blocked multiple lanes on northbound Interstate 5 near Ditman Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident page. The vehicle was possibly involved in a pursuit with Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies prior to crashing. The crash was reported around 12:01 a.m., when a white Infiniti struck the right-side wall of the freeway and caught fire, the CHP said. Flames spread to brush beneath a digital freeway sign, prompting a swift response from the Los Angeles Fire Department. All lanes were temporarily stopped just south of Ditman Avenue as firefighters battled the blaze. It remains unclear whether the vehicle was occupied when it ignited. A witness told authorities that three individuals were seen fleeing the scene. The CHP issued a Sig Alert at 12:39 a.m. for both the on-ramp and off-ramp at Ditman Avenue, citing immediate hazards, including a damaged freeway sign and approximately 100 feet of guardrail. Lanes 3 and 4 remained blocked as of 12:50 a.m. while tow crews responded. The incident remains under investigation.
