US: US residents stock up on goods amid concerns fresh tariffs could push up prices
Storyline: U.S. residents have expressed their grievances and concerns as the price of daily essentials have been pushed up as a result of the tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump signed an executive order last week imposing a 10-percent "minimum baseline tariff" on all imports before unveiling higher rates on certain trading partners. After several days of chaos on the global financial markets following this announcement, Trump on Wednesday suddenly declared a 90-day pause on the higher tariff rates to all countries except China. However, the impact of Trump's trade policies has continued to create economic uncertainty, with many U.S. consumers saying they are now more carefully managing their spending as a result. In Los Angeles, shoppers say they have already been looking to make the most of deals and discounts as they fear further price rises. Another local in LA said they took the opportunity to purchase some new electronic products, as they anticipate these items could be subject to future tariffs. I would like to have all my taxes given to me at the end of the year." Los Angeles, USA - Recent: 6. So, we ended up buying some electronics that just needed some upgrading, because we figured that there's a good chance that those things are going to get relatively decent tariffs on them in the future.
