A motorway sign collapsed onto a moving car during a dust storm in India.

The freak weather caused the overhead metal signage to crash into the vehicle, injuring the driver near Sector 113 on the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram, Haryana.

Authorities confirmed that the massive structure was installed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Footage shows locals attempting to assist the individuals inside the car on Friday, April 11. The incident caused heavy traffic in the area.

A police spokesman said: 'The incident occurred around 7 pm when strong winds during the storm dislodged the signage frame mounted above the entrance of the elevated section of the expressway.

'The signage came crashing down on an SUV travelling from Delhi towards Gurgaon. There were two people travelling in the Kia Sonet, but no major injuries were reported.'

A hydraulic crane was deployed to evacuate the damaged car and clear the fallen signage. The operation lasted over an hour.

Authorities have warned that driving during a dust storm is particularly dangerous due to reduced visibility and the risk of debris on the road. The high winds can make it difficult to control the vehicle, while airborne dust and sand can significantly impair the driver's ability to see clearly, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
