US: San Bernardino Crews Rescue Injured Man After Off Road Crash In Canyon
San Bernardino, United States - April 20, 2025 Crews from San Bernardino County Fire and the Sheriff's Aviation unit teamed up Sunday evening for a canyon rescue near Lytle Creek. An off-road vehicle had plunged 30 to 40 feet over the side of a dirt road. Firefighter/paramedics hiked down to the crash site to meet sheriff’s flight crew members who had been lowered to the scene. The teams treated and prepared an injured adult male for hoist to a hovering helicopter. The patient was then transported to a regional trauma center. The injured man was found outside the vehicle where it had come to rest. Three other adults who were in the four-seat all-terrain vehicle were uninjured. Because the exact location and accessibility of the patient were initially unclear, County Fire responded with multiple resources from Fontana and San Bernardino. The response included two engine companies, a paramedic squad, a technical rescue crew, a battalion chief, and an all-terrain rescue vehicle. American Medical Response also responded to assist with potential additional patient transports. The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 20, at 4:57 p.m. on Meyers Canyon Road near Lytle Creek.
