US: Woman Rescued After Falling 20 Feet into Manhole in San Bernardino

San Bernardino, United States - November 20, 2024 A woman was rescued after falling 15-20 feet into a manhole in San Bernardino on November 20, 2024. First responders from San Bernardino County Fire confirmed the woman was trapped and in need of urgent help. Firefighters quickly set up a technical rescue using a 100-foot aerial ladder, with the Urban Search & Rescue team arriving to assist in a high point rope rescue system. The woman, who had fallen into the hole the previous night, was discovered when a passerby heard her screams for help. She suffered multiple musculoskeletal injuries and was transported to a trauma center in moderate condition. Despite the challenges, firefighters successfully rescued the woman in under 90 minutes. There were no reports of injuries to first responders. Crews from the San Bernardino Municipal Water Department remained on the scene to secure the manhole.
