Tourist flew from the US to Egypt for $798 to spend a day there
A man flew 5,733 miles from the US to Egypt for just 24 HOURS to check out the pyramids and try local food.
Kevin Droniak, 27, boarded a 12:55 flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York City, on April 4, 2025, and landed in Cairo International Airport, Egypt, the following day at 5.15am local time.
He was picked up from the airport by a tour guide, and then explored the pyramids, tried local delicacies - including hawashi and baba ganoush - and walked along the River Nile - all in just 24
hours.
Kevin then checked into a hotel for a quick one hour power nap, before flying back to New York City at 4.50am on April 6, 2025.
He spent $1,198 on his trip, deciding to only spent 24 hours in Cairo so he could get a taste of the city before returning for a long visit.
Kevin, a content creator, from New York City, US, said: "I am always looking at cheap flights from New York."
"I used the 'anywhere' feature on Google Flights, and Cairo popped up, I didn't even know you could fly to Cairo from New York."
"I had always wanted to visit there - the flights made sense for me to go there on Saturday morning and fly back in the evening." "
It isn't Kevin's first long-haul mini break - with him having visited London for 24 hours before in May 2024.
When he spotted $798 return flights to Cairo, Kevin snapped them up - even though it meant he'd be in the country for just 24 hours.
He arrived in Cairo at 5.15am on April 5, 2025, and spent the full day there - making the most of every hour.
Kevin said: "I hired a guide for the day, which was really convenient."
"We went to see the pyramids in Giza first, before seeing the first pyramid ever built in Saqqara."
"I then got a hotel so I could take a nap, the place I was staying was on the Nile, so I got to walk around for a little bit."
Kevin then headed back to Cairo Airport to catch his 4.50am flight back to New York on April 6, arriving back home at 10.30am EST.
He said: "I definitely want to go back to Egypt for a longer time, it is so different and everyone there was super nice."
"I definitely want to explore more of Africa. My favourite part of the trip was seeing the pyramids for sure."
"It was full of history, it was really cool to be there."
