Toddler playing Easter angel calls out to mum for help reaching Virgin Mary's veil
A toddler dressed as Easter angel descended from a balcony and adorably called out to her mum for help reaching a statue of the Virgin Mary.
Footage shows five-year-old Jorgeina Kassidy Barcelona being lowered on a rope while singing as she was tasked to lift the mourning veil.
However, her little arms were too short and struggled to grab the piece of black cloth in Bulacan, the Philippines on April 20.
She said: 'Mama, I cannot reach it.'
Despite the slight mishap, the spirited youngster continued with her performance, moving along with the rest of the ceremony.
Jorgeina finally removed the thin veil and was pulled upwards, delighting the crowd.
Devotee Rozelle Del Pozo said: 'It was an unforgettable scene in the Salubong 2025 celebration at the Diocesan Shrine of San Isidro Labrador Parish.'
The little girl played the angel in the traditional 'Salubong,' a Filipino Catholic ritual held on Easter Sunday, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It reenacts the meeting of the risen Christ and the Virgin Mary. Two separate processions are held - one with a statue of the Risen Christ and another with the mourning Virgin Mary, usually veiled in black.
