Arizona wildfire scorches more than 2,000 acres of land
A massive wildfire scorched more than 2,000 acres of land in Arizona.
The blaze named Stronghold Fire erupted on Monday morning, April 28, in Cochise County.
Aircraft worked on the southern flank of the blaze for much of the afternoon but were grounded due to high winds.
Residents south of Ironwood Road and west of Cochise Stronghold Road, including Stronghold Campgrounds and trailheads, have been instructed to evacuate immediately if they have not already.
Those west of Desert Road, east of Cochise Stronghold Road, north of Middle March Road, and south of West Eastland Street are on 'Set' status, meaning they should be prepared for possible evacuation.
Locals east of Desert Road, west of North Willcox Road, north of Middle March Road and south of West Eastland Street are advised to be 'Ready' for potential evacuation.
As of Wednesday, Stronghold Fire is 22 per cent contained. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
