300-Pound Alligator Safely Captured in South Carolina Neighborhood
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — A 300-pound alligator was safely captured Tuesday after making an unexpected appearance in the Irongate neighborhood, according to the Summerville Police Department.
Officers from Summerville PD worked alongside the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Dorchester County Animal Control to contain the reptile without incident.
Officials reminded residents that, under state law, only the DNR is authorized to relocate alligators. Anyone who spots one in a residential or public area is urged not to approach it and to immediately contact local authorities or the DNR.
The coordinated response ensured the safety of both the public and the animal.
