HITCHCOCK, Texas — A Sunday morning church trip turned into a roadside emergency for Ny’Easter and her family—until the Hitchcock Police Department stepped in with a timely and heartfelt assist.

Ny’Easter was headed to church with her newborn baby, 11-year-old daughter, and 18-year-old son when her vehicle suddenly broke down. In a panic, she called the local dispatch center for help.

Officers quickly responded. Officer Perez located the issue—a transmission linkage problem—and managed a temporary roadside fix that got the family back on the road. Thanks to his quick work, they made it just in time for her daughter’s special church presentation.

While Officer Perez repaired the vehicle, Officer Jammer and Sgt. Wooldridge helped calm the children and held the 3-week-old baby, a moment they called the best part of their day.

“This is what community policing is all about—being there when our residents need us most,” the department shared.
