DEKALB, Ill. — It was a wild goose chase in every sense of the word when a white farmhouse goose from a mobile petting zoo decided to go rogue.

After the event wrapped up, the adventurous bird wandered off, prompting Detective Long and Officer Burdick from the DeKalb Police Department to spring into action. The officers eventually located the feathered escapee and safely brought it back—ending the chase with a rescue and even a few snuggles from Detective Long.

“You won’t believe this one!” the department wrote on Facebook, sharing body camera footage in the comments and using the hashtag #WildGooseChase.

Thanks to the quick response and gentle hands of local law enforcement, the wayward goose’s solo adventure came to a safe and heartwarming end.
