Los Angeles, United States - May 18, 2025 05/17/2025 10:05 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Valley Station joined nearly 2,000 law enforcement personnel overnight to honor fallen officers during the department’s 50th Annual Memorial Torch Relay Run. The commemorative event began at 10 a.m. Friday on the front steps of the Hall of Justice in downtown Los Angeles, where LASD Assistant Sheriff Jason Skeen led a moment of silence in remembrance of deputies who lost their lives in the line of duty while serving the communities of Los Angeles County. The Memorial Torch Relay Run, a non-stop, 300-mile journey, spans 56 legs and visits all 23 LASD stations — including those on Catalina Island and in Santa Clarita—over the course of three days. The run will conclude at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, at the Altadena Sheriff’s Station. Launched in 1975, the relay has become a deeply rooted tradition in the Sheriff’s Department, providing law enforcement members and their supporters a solemn opportunity to honor the legacy and sacrifice of fallen comrades. This year’s milestone event saw participation from deputies, partner agencies, and community supporters, all carrying the Memorial Torch as a symbol of enduring remembrance.
