Recently, in the Taminqagan Desert Scenic Area of Kulun Banner, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, the appearance of replicas of the Egyptian Sphinx and pyramids has sparked public interest.

Set against the backdrop of the desert, the structures appear particularly majestic and solemn. While they are not historical relics born of an ancient civilisation like their Egyptian counterparts, these "replica versions" stand out for their seamless integration with the vast surrounding desert landscape.

According to the scenic area's management, these were specially created as part of a tourism project. “No need to travel all the way to Egypt — right here in the Taminqagan Desert of Kulun Banner, Tongliao, you can encounter the ‘Sphinx’ and ‘pyramid complex’!” they said.
