Terrified students flee from school fire in Bangkok
This is the dramatic moment terrified students fled from a school fire in Thailand.
Footage shows the youngsters escaping to a car park as smoke billowed out of a three-storey building in Bangkok on May 20.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 9:06 am local time and extinguished the flames in 10 minutes.
Officers said no one was harmed as the teachers immediately evacuated the students out of the building.
The fire was believed to have broken out in the auditorium and rapidly spread as it ripped through flammable furniture and stage materials.
Firefighters believe a short circuit in the ceiling wires may have sparked the blaze. They added that investigations were ongoing.
Fires in Thailand are commonly caused by ageing electrical infrastructure, extensive use of wood in construction, and regional heat waves that can exacerbate fire risks.
Rapid fire response can also be hampered in densely packed neighbourhoods where narrow streets can delay firefighting efforts.
