This is the amusing moment a mother hen led her chicks across a road in Alaska.

Footage shows the spruce grouse ambling along the motorway with its five hatchlings at Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve.

Two baby grouse can be seen following closely behind their mother. Moments later, their three siblings dash across the grass to join them.

Spruce grouse chicks typically hatch in June, shortly after the eggs are laid in late spring. They are precocial, meaning they can walk and feed themselves shortly after birth, though they remain close to the hen for protection.

Authorities urge drivers to slow down and stay alert for wildlife, especially during breeding season when birds and their chicks are more likely to cross roads.
