Bengaluru Set For Rainy Week As Monsoon Arrives Early; Red Alert Issued

Monsoon has reached Karnataka including the capital city of Bengaluru, India’s weather forecasting agency confirmed on Monday as heavy rain continues to batter state.

Several parts of the country are witnessing heavy rain, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala, among several others. The monsoon has already arrived in Kerala, and its neighbouring have also been lashed by heavy downpours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Karnataka for May 26 and 27. Several areas of Bengaluru, infamous for waterlogging, were flooded due to heavy rain. The IMD has predicted a rainy week for the city.

The weather department has predicted generally cloudy skies with heavy rainfall and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds in Bengaluru from May 25 to 29. Wind speeds are expected to range between 30 and 40 kmph during this period. The weather pattern is likely to bring relief from the heat while also raising concerns about localized flooding and traffic disruptions.

The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will settle in between 19 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Several parts of Karnataka, including Mangaluru, Nujibaltil, and Kadaba, are experiencing significant disruption due to heavy rainfall. In Mangaluru and Ullal, intense downpours have led to widespread flooding, severely affecting normal life.
