CAIRO, EGYPT - MAY 29, 2025: On May 29, 2025, a remarkable collection of artifacts from the tomb of Pharaoh Psusennes I went on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo’s Tahrir Square. Discovered in 1940 in the ancient city of Tanis in northern Egypt, the tomb yielded an extraordinary array of items, including a golden funerary mask, a gold shirt, precious jewelry, stone and silver sarcophagi, tableware, weapons, and Ushabti figurines. Despite the humid climate of the Nile Delta, the artifacts were found to be in excellent condition, offering rare insights into the wealth and craftsmanship of the 21st Dynasty. The exhibit highlights the opulence of Psusennes I’s reign and underscores the artistic and metallurgical skills of ancient Egyptian artisans. Writing by Aleyna Cil
