A shopping mall fire in Mexico filled the building with smoke, triggering a rapid emergency response and the evacuation of customers.

The blaze broke out at the Portal San Angel shopping centre on Avenida Revolucion on May 28.

Local media said approximately 850 people were evacuated. Seventeen dogs and three cats were also rescued from a pet shop inside the building.

Authorities reported that a short circuit in the machine room caused the incident.

The Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection confirmed that no injuries were reported.
