This is the terrifying moment a home was seen shaking as a magnitude 6.6 earthquake rattled Papua in Indonesia this morning.

CCTV footage shows appliances and other items in the living room rattling as tremors shook the home in Nabire City, Central Papua, on Friday, September 19.

Another video shows a playroom with toys and equipment swaying, while footage from a garage captures vehicles shaking as the quake struck.

Resident Halimah Yakub said: 'This earthquake reminds us of the 2004 disaster. That quake was even worse. We remain vigilant and on guard, hoping there will be no aftershocks.'

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) said the earthquake occurred at 3:19 am local time. Centred on land, it was recorded 12 km southwest of Nabire with a depth of 24 km.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or infrastructure damage. No tsunami alarms were raised.

Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes because it sits on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcanic eruptions and earthquakes happen.
