Phoenix, United States - May 29, 2025 05/29/2025 01:45 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to reports of a house fire near 65th Lane and Whyman Avenue around 1:45 a.m. Crews arrived to find a pickup truck on fire in the driveway of a single-story residence. Flames from the burning pickup truck were quickly extending into the attic space above the garage. Crews deployed handlines and achieved a knockdown on the pickup fire within moments of arrival. With the vehicle fire under control, firefighters worked to address the fire's extension into the home. Crews made entry into the garage and entered the attic space. A handline was deployed into the attic for fire attack. Crews deployed a handline to the exterior of the home, flowing water into the attic from the lining of the roof. Fire control was declared a short time later. All occupants of the home were able to safely evacuate without injury. A fire investigator was dispatched to determine how the fire started. The number of displaced occupants has yet to be confirmed.
