Two bridges collapsed in separate regions, killing at least seven and injuring dozens more in Russia.

The first road bridge gave way, sending several heavy trucks crashing onto a moving passenger train in the Bryansk region late on Saturday, May 31.

Governor Alexander Bogomaz confirmed that seven people were killed and 71 were injured in the incident. The train was carrying 388 commuters.

Just a few hours later, a railway bridge above a road in the Zheleznogorsk district of Kursk also collapsed, derailing a locomotive.

Acting Governor Alexander Khinshtein said: 'One of the train drivers has injured his legs. The entire team was taken to the hospital.'

The train caught fire but was promptly extinguished by emergency responders.

Footage shows crews deploying heavy equipment to clear the vehicles from the scene.

A Ukrainian national security official claimed Russia staged the incidents as 'false flag' operations, intended to sway international opinion ahead of the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine scheduled for Monday in Turkey.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was kept informed about the incidents throughout the night.
