This is the heartwarming moment a mother's ashes were returned to the sea in Skegness to fulfill her dreams of travelling the world.

Single mother Wendy Chadwick, 51, died of heart disease in February before she could realise her lifelong dream of seeing the world.

In a bid to fulfill Wendy's wish even in death, her grieving daughter, Cara Melia, 24, placed her ashes into a glass bottle and released it into the sea in Ingoldmells Beach. Inside the container, Cara tucked a handwritten note that read: 'This is my mum. Throw her back in. She's travelling the world.'

However, the bottle washed up 12 hours later on the same beach, where it was found by Kelly Sheridan and her family on June 3.

Footage shows Kelly's son hurling the glass bottle back into the sea after reading Cara's message.

Kelly wrote on her Facebook: 'Can everyone please share this far and wide in hope it finds Cara from Oldham! We found this lovely lady earlier today at Butlins, Skegness beach. She's been thrown back in the sea as requested. Happy travels Cara's Mum.'

Kelly's post soon found its way to Cara, who thanked her for her help.

Cara, who now lives in Royton, said: 'So many people wouldn't have bothered. I am hoping she goes further this time and finally gets a chance to travel the world.

'Life happened and my mum never got a chance to travel. Nobody was meant to find her for a bit - she was meant to be in a completely different country.

'I'd love her to end up on a beach in Barbados or Spain, which would definitely take a while.'

She believes her mother, whom she described as 'a very quirky person' and 'absolutely loved the beach and sun', would have appreciated her touching tribute.
