The tremor, which occurred at 08:08 local time (13:08 GMT), was centered 17 kilometers northeast of Paratebueno in Cundinamarca department, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). It originated at a depth of 10 kilometers. Colombia’s Geological Service measured the quake at a slightly higher magnitude of 6.4. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) also confirmed the depth at 10 kilometers. Residents in Bogotá, located approximately 170 kilometers from the epicenter, felt strong tremors, prompting many to evacuate buildings. Videos shared on social media showed swaying lights and furniture, but no significant damage or injuries were immediately reported.
