An earthquake hit the Philippines on Christmas morning (Dec 25). The magnitude 6.3 quake shook the Mindoro region at 7:43 am local time and the capital Manila was also affected.

Footage shows buildings and a Christmas tree shaking in Taguig City in the Metro Manila region. Terrified resident Itsya Girlnaya can be heard expressing her shock using colourful language.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicentre was in Calatagan in Batangas province.

They warned of aftershocks but there were no initial reports of severe damage or injuries.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 144 km (89 miles).
