Schoolboy bodybuilder twins, 11, follow in fitness fanatic mum's footsteps
A pair of bodybuilding schoolboy twins are emerging athletes following in their fitness fanatic mum's footsteps.
The youngsters, Hero and Model Sornchuay, both 11, work out like professional athletes, guided by their mum Siriporn Sornchuay, a bodybuilder competing for Thailand's national team.
The proud mother said she saw her sons' potential during the pandemic, when she had to find a way to channel their excess energy as they stayed indoors.
She said: ‘The turning point was the Covid-19 pandemic, during which my children had to stay at home for a long time. I realised I needed to come up with activities for them rather than letting them do nothing.'
‘I noticed their potential in exercising, which I hadn't seen before. They showed surprising strength for their age. That's when I decided to incorporate a gimmick into the video, having them reveal their abs at the end. It was the first time I saw their abs.'
The twins' usual routine includes a warm-up to limber up their muscles before moving on to bodyweight exercises and strength training. Cool down exercises cap off the workout to help prevent injuries.
Siriporn said the pair have transitioned from home workouts to joining competitions.
She said: ‘Because I've been involved in sports since I was young and am still active in the field, our family had a discussion and concluded that we want to support them in whichever sport they choose, not necessarily fitness or bodybuilding like me.'
She added that it was important for parents to have their kids engage in sports, advocating for active exercises instead of screen time.
