HEAD OF STATE PROTOCOL AT FOREIGN MINISTRY, ANDY RACHMIANTO, SPEAKING TO PRESS (Indonesian) JAKARTA, INDONESIA - JUNE 24: Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday, June 24, that 97 Indonesian nationals have been evacuated from Iran in the wake of escalating tensions and clashes between Israel and Iran. Officials said the evacuation was conducted using three commercial flights routed through Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Eleven of the evacuees arrived in Jakarta on Tuesday. Head of State Protocol at the ministry, Andy Rachmianto, said preparations were made in line with a directive from President Joko Widodo to ensure the safe return of Indonesian citizens. He noted that a total of 97 people were successfully evacuated so far. Regional tensions have escalated since last Friday, when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes. Israeli authorities said at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks. According to Iranian media reports, 585 people have been killed and more than 1,300 wounded in the Israeli assault.
