Feisty bird protects nest from farmer harvesting durians
This is the amusing moment a feisty bird fiercely defended its nest from a farmer harvesting durians.
The fruit climbers discovered the Malayan Night Heron perched atop a tree, guarding her eggs nestled in a pile of twigs on a high branch in Chanthaburi, Thailand.
Footage shows the bird aggressively attempting to attack one of the labourers as he picked spiky fruits beneath her roost on June 10.
With feathers fluffed up, the heron squawked loudly at the men working nearby.
After removing three durians from the branch, the farmers carefully descended, leaving the determined heron behind to guard her precious egg.
The Malayan Night Herons may exhibit strong territoriality during the breeding season by utilising vocalisations and aggressive behaviours to defend their nesting sites from potential predators and intruders.
