VARIOUS OF PROTESTORS MARCHING TO ISRAELI CONSULATENEW YORK, US - JUNE 30, 2025: A former leader of Veterans for Peace, Mike Ferner, threw animal blood at the windows of the U.S. Permanent Mission to the UN building in New York during a protest on Monday, June 30. “Here, United States, have some blood; you like shedding it all over the world so much... A small amount of blood. The blood money that corporations made from keeping us at war all the time. No more killing. Please stop it," Ferner told the press during his protest. The New York Police promptly handcuffed and arrested Ferner at the scene. Meanwhile, veterans and peace activists who had been staging a 40-day hunger strike outside the U.S. UN mission to protest both Israeli operations in Gaza and the obstruction of humanitarian aid ended their fast. On the final day, the group marched with pro-Palestinian banners and placards to the Israeli Consulate in New York. At the consulate, they chanted “Freedom for Palestine”, “Long live Palestinian resistance”, and “No support for Israel”. Police detained some protesters during the demonstration for blocking the city traffic. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has killed more than 56,500 Palestinians in a deadly onslaught in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
