The find has raised concerns about the proper handling and storage of human remains. Officials said the bodies were not refrigerated or stored in appropriate conditions. Carlos Tarin, head of the Federal Committee for Protection from Sanitary Risks, said there was no immediate public health threat because the corpses had been embalmed. Still, the site was sealed due to unsanitary conditions. Investigators determined the crematorium had become overwhelmed by the volume of corpses, exceeding its processing capacity. Chihuahua State Prosecutor Carlos Manuel Salas said no criminal activity was suspected. He noted that all the bodies were identified by family members and had the required documentation.
