WIDE SHOT OF HOUSES BURNING, FLAMES RISING IZMIR, TÜRKİYE - JULY 3: Turkish firefighters are battling multiple wildfires that erupted on Monday in the Aegean coastal province of Izmir, with efforts still underway to contain the blazes as strong winds complicate containment efforts. The forest fires have caused significant disruptions, including highway closures and evacuations, as firefighting teams continue their efforts to contain the blazes for a second consecutive day. In Cesme, a fire that began in an agricultural area on Tuesday quickly spread to nearby forests and shrublands, leading authorities to shut down sections of the İzmir-Cesme Highway as a safety precaution. Meanwhile, in Odemiş, a separate wildfire erupted in the forested Manastir area of Tosunlar Neighborhood before spreading toward residential zones. Firefighters worked through the night to control the flames, with aerial support resuming at first light. The İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry has mobilized significant resources, including two planes, nine helicopters, 35 water tenders, nine water supply trucks, and four bulldozers to combat the blaze. As a precaution, evacuations were carried out in several neighborhoods. Officials reported that multiple homes in Tosunlar neighborhood suffered damage, though no casualties have been confirmed.
